Working parents still not getting the flexibility they need

An interesting post on the HR Director site giving details of recent research in relation to teaching in further education and the flexibility it can offer working parents.

Recent research indicates a strong desire among working parents for more flexible job opportunities, emphasising work-life balance, flexible hours, and leveraging existing skills. A notable 88% are open to part-time or flexible roles, highlighting a significant gap in current work structures. Transitioning to Further Education teaching could be a viable option, offering both industry relevance and flexible schedules, with 40% of FE teachers on part-time contracts. This pathway not only addresses flexibility concerns but also fosters the next generation of industry professionals.
